Appyling Stickers - Indepth

Before you start to apply your new Wall Glamour we suggest you take a minute to prepare yourself and read these instructions through fully. Although Wall Glamour is easy to fit, it does require a little patience for larger items. It’s a good idea to plan where you are going to put your new purchase in advance of peeling the silicon paper off. Care needs to be taken when fitting Wall Glamour as it is not a reusable item, it can be easily removed but it will more than likely be damaged.

Freshly painted walls should be allowed to dry for 2 weeks before applying. To prepare the surface before applying your Wall Glamour, you must thoroughly clean the surface of dust or grit which will show up and spoil the final look of your design. Make sure you wipe the surface well and leave to dry before attempting to apply. Then take the scraper provided and rub it on the back of the Wall Glamour to allow the transfer paper to re-attach the vinyl sticker.

Step One
Clean surfaces thoroughly.
Step Two
Hold vinyl up to position desired.
Step Three
Trim excess backing paper top and bottom.
Step Four
Re-position vinyl
Step Five
Tape vinyl to surface, we suggest using masking tape.
Step Six
Tape the full width of the backing paper.
Step Seven
Lift vinyl, tape acts as a hinge.
Step Eight
Peel away backing paper from the top down.
Step Nine
Take backing paper to half way. Keep vinyl away from wall.
Step Ten
Keep applicator at 45 degrees as you apply.
Step Eleven
Apply plenty of pressure or you may get air bubbles.
Step Twelve
Remember to keep vinyl away from wall where it is not being attached.
Step Thirteen
You can use your finger instead of applicator for any tricky bits
Step Fourteen
As you work down the vinyl pull back more backing paper.
Step Fifteen
When you get close to the edge, remove backing paper.
Step Sixteen
Finally smooth down last edge.

Step Seventeen
One final rub over, with pressure.
Step Eighteen
Peel back edge of transfer film.
Step Nineteen
Remove the rest of the transfer film at 180 degrees to vinyl.

Please note that if you accidentally apply the vinyl graphic in the wrong position on some surfaces (like smooth tiles or gloss painted items) you can, if very careful, remove and replace. However vinyl is meant to be a one application medium so you may find the item slightly distorted or damaged. Please be sure you have the correct position before appyling. When you are finished with the vinyl, due to your wish to redecorate or for whatever reason, you can easily remove the vinyl by heating it up gently with a hair dryer and peeling backwards at 180 degrees as shown in the picture, and sticky resedue can be cleaned with metholated spirits. Note this may pull emulsion paints off the wall.

Extra Tips!

Now for some extra industry tips on how to create a multi-piece scene, getting rid of air bubbles and working over creases.

Trim excess top and bottom as before Roughly trim excess around anywhere that may hinder viewing. Re-position to check now the excess has been removed. Positioning the flower leaves so they do not clash may leave you with excess stem.
Trim the excess length from the stem. Tape the full width of backing paper prior to fitting. Tape vinyl into position. Lift vinyl and peel backing paper away as before.
Apply vinyl as before, remembering to apply ample pressure. Take care on larger areas that you dont get air bubbles. Press firmly! Apply in a smooth outward direction with applicator held at 45 degrees. Finally rub down to make sure everything has fully tacked.
Remove transfer film at 180 degress to vinyl. Prick any air bubbles with a pin or sharp knife. With your thumb or finger work the air towards the hole you made. Use your finger to press the vinyl into any gaps.
If the recess is deep you may be able to use your appicator to push the vinyl in. Another tip is to use a hair dryer to warm the vinyl and then press it firmly in. When using a heat source do not drag the applicator over it as you will damage the vinyl. If the vinyl will not stick in the recess it is better to trim the edges back to the flat surface, this will prolong the life of the sticker.
